What is a HubSpot Campaign?
HubSpot Campaigns bring together all marketing efforts aimed at a specific goal, providing a single, centralized view for tracking and optimizing your efforts. You may have noticed that when creating marketing assets in HubSpot, there’s an option to assign them to a campaign. This feature, while sometimes overlooked, is powerful for strategic marketing management and analysis.
Campaigns can be time-bound (e.g., “Autumn 2023 Promotion”) or evergreen (e.g., “Lead Generation Funnel”). For example, a lead magnet campaign for “The Workflow Box” can include blog posts, emails, ads, and forms, all directed toward promoting the lead magnet and generating leads. With each relevant asset assigned to a campaign, you gain a clear view of the impact and effectiveness of your coordinated efforts.
The Benefits of HubSpot Campaign Data
Within each HubSpot campaign, you’ll find two primary data tabs:
-
Overall Performance Tab:
- Provides metrics like total sessions, contacts generated, and influenced contacts (those who interacted with campaign assets).
- Displays new contacts over time and breaks down the performance of each asset in the campaign, with direct links for easy access and editing.
- Includes attribution metrics that show which assets and sources contributed most to lead generation.
-
Task Management:
- Lets you create and manage tasks specific to the campaign, helping streamline your workflow and ensure timely execution.
These insights allow you to continuously optimize each asset and evaluate the campaign’s impact.
Creating HubSpot Campaigns
- Navigate to the Campaigns Tool: Go to Marketing > Campaigns.
- Start a New Campaign:
- Select “Create Campaign” and choose either a template or a blank setup. Starting from scratch is generally best, as templates often have limited application.
- Fill in Campaign Details:
- Name your campaign and optionally assign a color for easy visual identification.
- Add details like start and end dates for time-sensitive campaigns, objectives, target audience, and notes.
- Add Assets to the Campaign:
- Scroll through the list of available assets and add everything related to this campaign, such as emails, landing pages, forms, and ads.
- Save and Track Performance:
- Once saved, HubSpot will automatically begin collecting data on all connected assets, giving you a full view of your campaign’s reach and effectiveness.
